Dr. Wheeler’s office is happy to provide ultrasound services for patients on a daily basis.  His staff includes three certified ultrasonographers and employs four ultrasound machines on a weekly basis. Included is a 4-D ultrasound on a limited basis.  These services are provided for high-risk obstetric patients, gynecology patients, surveillance for ovarian cancer, fibroids and other gynecologic conditions.  Ultrasound requires appointments as most procedures last approximately ½ hour.  Unfortunately, some insurance companies including HMOs will not cover this service in the office and therefore, these patients will be referred into the contracted ultrasound facility.  We are happy that we can offer this service to most of our patients in the friendly and relaxing atmosphere of their doctor’s office.  This also allows the patients to have immediate interpretations of their results so that they are able to return to their daily activities without the fear of uncertain results which occurs in many ultrasound facilities.
