Our office takes pride in providing and accommodating patient’s needs in a timely manner. Our office is utilizing the NextGen Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system which allows us to communicate with patients via email through our secure HIPPAA compliant patient portal called NextMd.
We ask all New patients and Established patients to please register online at www.nextmd.com.
We understand that not everyone will want to register with our patient portal. However it will help reduce time on the phone and improve efficiency in patient care. This will also save the use and cost of paper materials. More importantly, the NextMD feature is an encrypted/HIPPAA compliant portal which gives you the safest protection of your medical correspondence
If you are unable to register with our patient portal, we ask that you call the office to schedule your appointments.
Due to the unpredictable nature of our business, occasional delays will occur. We will make every effort to notify you in advance. In turn, we ask that you inform us of any delays in making it to your appointment and give one-day notice on cancellations so that we may allow for better scheduling of patients.
New patients and consultations will be asked for a $100.00 retainer, which will be collected upon completion of that scheduled appointment. It will be refunded or applied to your visit upon completion of your scheduled appointment or if cancellation notice is given 24 hours in advance or for extenuating circumstances. We are pleased to serve you and will strive to make your visit pleasant and timely. We encourage any suggestions as to how we can help improve your visit to our office.
Timeliness
Dr. Wheeler strives to see his patients on a timely basis. Occasionally, unforeseeable emergencies may prevent him from achieving his goal. Patients will be advised if he is significantly delayed. Unfortunately, many of these delays may result from patients arriving late for their appointments. We ask that all new patients arrive 15-20 minutes prior to their appointment and send records in advance. Returning patients shoul arrive 5-10 minutes prior to their appointment. Newport Beach is a resort town so please allow enough time for traffic delays.
Cancellations
Our goal is to provide quality medical care in a timely manner. In order to do so we have had to implement an appointment /cancellation policy. The policy enables us to better utilize available appointments for our patients in need of medical care.
Cancellation of an Appointment
In order to be respectful of the medical needs to other patients in our practice please be courteous and call our office promptly if you are unable to attend an appointment. This time will be reallocated to someone who is in urgent need of treatment. If it is necessary to cancel your scheduled appointment we request that you call by 10 a.m. one (1) working day in advance. Appointments are in high demand, and your early cancellation will give another person the possibility to have access to timely medical care. How to Cancel Your Appointment

New Patients
Please contact the office to schedule your first appointment and provide us with an email address that you would like to utilize for all future contacts, so that we may provide you with an enrollment token number to register with patient portal NextMd You will be asked to provide the following information
- Full Name (indicated on insurance card)
- Reason(s) for visit
- Date of Birth
- Address
- Phone numbers
- Email address
- Insurance information
- Referral source (i.e. doctor, friend, website, or adversement)
- Primary care physician
You will be asked to register with NextMd and complete the patient questionnaire on line prior to your scheduled appointment
You will be asked to review, download and complete the patient forms on our website
You may also be asked to obtain and submit medical records that pertain to your visit prior to your scheduled appointment.
Established Patients
You can now request an appointment or cancel any appointment made through our office through the patient portal, NextMd
If you have not registered, please contact the office via phone and provide us with an email address that you would like to utilize for all future contacts, so that we may provide you with an enrollment token number to register with patient portal NextMd
If you have already registered with our patient portal NextMd, please log-in. This will allow you to request and cancel your appointments and utilize any other online services that may be available. Please read the Security and confidentiality statement on nextmd.com.
Please understand that NextMd is a HIPPA compliant, encrypted portal which protects your information with a password that only you know. Dr. Wheeler helped design this portal with NextGen to improve the safety and efficiency of your personal medical information. |
